Ronnie, Bill, John, and the influentials

Ronald Reagan brought his famous face to the Licking County estate of Joe and Mrs. Sinsabaugh, standing here with U.S. Rep. John Ashbrook of Johnstown. Joe was, in the words of Bill Clifford, former radio newsman, a big-time local Republican who ran a small oil company bearing his name.

At that time, Reagan was beginning to move forward as a heavy politician - possibly by then he was the governor of California, or nearly so. Ashbrook served in Congress from 1960 until his death in 1982 at age 53.

William F. Buckley Jr. accompanied Reagan that day, here schmoozing with Mr. Sinsabaugh. In back is Frank Spencer, Advocate publisher, and Clarence Pennington, Advocate general manager.
